AN EVENING WITH GARRISON KEILLOR Sunday, January 24, 2010, 7:00pm
Garrison Keillor is an author, storyteller, humorist, and creator of the weekly radio show A Prairie Home Companion. The show began in 1974 as a live variety show on Minnesota Public Radio. In the 1980s, A Prairie Home Companion became a pop culture phenomenon with millions of Americans listening to Keillor's folksy tales of life in the fictional Midwestern town of Lake Wobegon, where (in Keillor's words) "the women are strong, the men are good looking, and all of the children are above average."
Keillor ended the show in 1987 and 1989 began a similar new radio show titled American Radio Company of the Air. In 1993, he returned the show to its original name. Keillor also created the syndicated daily radio feature A Writer's Almanac in 1993. He has written for The New Yorker and is the author of several books, including Happy to Be Here (1990), Leaving Home (1992), Lake Wobegon Days (1995), and Good Poems for Hard Times (2005). His radio show inspired a 2006 movie, A Prairie Home Companion, written by, and starring, Keillor and directed by Robert Altman.

SHIDARA: THE DRUMS OF JAPAN Sunday, March 7, 2010, 7:00pm
Shidara (SHE-dah-rah) was founded in 1989. Members live in a tiny country village and train in strict, traditional style. Their home is deep within bamboo and cedar forest mountains. They see monkeys, wild pigs, deer, badgers, and bears on their morning run. On Shidara's costumes, isho (EE-sho), there are leaves representing the forest where they live.
Shidara performers train very hard, living and working like a family, to "share the same heart." Living this way gives Shidara a special energy and spirit on stage. Shidara has promised to preserve the ancient dance festivals in their region. With our songs, we hope to bring people together, joining hands in support and encouragement. This is what people have done for hundreds of years in Japan at festivals, celebrating happiness and blessings.

THE ASSOCIATION Friday, April 16, 2010, 7:30pm
It all started in 1965 with the breakup of one of the first folk rock ensembles called, "The Men." What was originally an 11 member singing group ultimately became the six (6) man band named, "The Association!" In 1967, The Association made history being the first band anywhere to open a rock festival – the now historic Monterey Pop Festival.
One of the most successful bands to come out of the '60s, they have sold over 80 million records, tapes, CDs and DVDs. They've earned a number of achievement awards as well as six (6) gold records and two (2) platinum records. Hit songs include Along Comes Mary, Windy, and Never My Love. THE PIANO MEN II – Friday, May 14, 2010, 7:30pm
The Piano Men II is an acclaimed musical journey through the 1970s and 1980s that showcases the songs of legendary performers Billy Joel and Elton John.
Multi-talented entertainer Jim Witter is featured on the piano and lead vocals, along with his band, which includes guitar and drum backup.
Witter does not attempt to mimic Billy Joel or Elton John, but instead relies on familiar arrangements and his versatile singing voice to evoke their music. With the addition of a rear-projected screen, the audience is further transported back to the '70s and '80s via newsreels, newspaper headlines, and other hallmarks of the time. The show covers the '70s and early '80s and includes such hits as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Honky Cat, You May Be Right, Empty Garden, Still Rock & Roll To Me, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, Uptown Girl and more.
Tickets available at the Weill Center Ticket Office or by phone (920)208-3243. Tickets $28 & $22
