Penquins IMAGO wsSargento Family Series
Imago Theatre
Sunday, February 10, 2013 2:00 PM

Founded in 1979 by Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad, Imago Theater's original production has toured internationally for over two decades. Imago's signature work, FROGZ, appeared twice on Broadway in 2000 and 2002 at the acclaimed New Victory Theatre. The company's most recent unique, playful menagerie of creatures – a giant dinosaur, fire-fly bug eyes, hungry anteaters, hitch-hiking rabbits, introverted frogs, cantankerous polar bears, insomniac hippos, and tricky penguins - fill the stage with wit, wonder and mesmerizing Felliniesque mayhem in the acclaimed production, ZooZoo.

The universal nature of Imago's world has won audience and critical acclaim in tours in Asia, Europe, Canada, and throughout the U.S. where they were awarded the New York Dance Film Award and "Best Touring Production" by Independent Reviewers of New England. Imago has been hailed by critics worldwide for sophisticated, highly entertaining works for all ages.

starring Sandy Hackett

SHOW - CANCELLED

This one-man show, starring Sandy Hackett, and directed by Lisa Dawn Miller, pays homage to Sandy's father, legendary comedian Buddy Hackett.  "To anyone who had a best friend and lost them, this show is for you," says Sandy. "Writing this has been a labor of love; performing this will be cathartic. My father said,   'never lose your sense of humor.' He's been gone eight years and somehow he still makes me laugh every day. I think it's time to share those laughs."

Makana: Hawaiian Slack Key
Friday, February 22, 2013 7:30 PM

Born and raised in Hawaii, Makana is an internationally acclaimed Slack Key guitarist, singer, composer, philosopher, activist, and one of Hawaii's cultural ambassadors to the world. He is considered the youngest authority on his art form and recognized as one of the top guitarists in the US (Guitar Player Magazine 2008). The New York Times calls him "A dynamic force within the style" of slack key, and National Geographic Society says Makana is "charting a new sonic frontier with deep ties to tradition."

His songs range from traditional to highly original, both instrumental and lyrical, exploring a broad spectrum of themes:  cultural, philosophical, social-political, economic, interpersonal, sensual, and universal, often through the lens of humor and a piercing wit. He has performed in venues worldwide, ranging from Tianjin Opera House in China, to the White House, toured nationwide with Jason Mraz, opened for Sting, Santana and Elvis Costello, and released six records to date.
