The Snowman is an animated film based on Raymond Brigg's picture book The Snowman. The story is told through pictures, action and music, and has no dialogue, with the exception of the central song, "Walking in the Air." Howard Blake stated that he wanted to incorporate the lyrics with "a symphony that expressed the complete innocence and beauty that we are all born with."

Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker premiered in 1892 in Saint Petersburg, Russia but is now a part of our American holiday culture thanks to the San Francisco Ballet, and especially the George Balanchine New York City Ballet production. But don't let the familiarity fool you, Tchaikovsky's score is a work of genius.

The film Home Alone has become a touchstone for many people at the holidays, albeit a comic one. While not as famous as his other film scores, the one and only John Williams composed the music, and it is an ingenious blend of original music and traditional holiday carols.
